Our Story

Founded in 2025 by Joni Wilm, a dedicated Alaskan and seasoned urban planner, Honu Planning is committed to transforming communities for the better. With roots in Fairbanks and over 20 years of experience in Anchorage, Joni brings a wealth of knowledge from her 15 years with the Municipality of Anchorage. There, she specialized in comprehensive land use planning, neighborhood planning, and transportation planning, prioritizing the needs of non-motorized users such as pedestrians, cyclists, transit riders, and individuals with disabilities. At Honu Planning, we believe in the power of community-driven solutions. Our expertise lies in fostering consensus around community-led visions and goals, crafting innovative concepts for placemaking, and designing safe transportation networks. We maximize the potential of open spaces and adaptive reuse while enhancing neighborhood character and connectivity to ensure everyone enjoys safe and convenient mobility options.
